About Me

Welcome everyone, I'm Thien!

I always find myself wanting to help those in need. Maybe it's my soul's purpose or perhaps it's because I'm a people pleaser, either way, there's no better feeling than seeing the gratification on someone's face when you lend a helping hand or ear.

A few years ago I found myself in a rut, dealing with depression and anxiety and that gnawing feeling that I was doing nothing with my life. I felt like I had very little direction. During that time, I had also gotten into a pretty nasty car accident that totaled my car. The aftermath left me with whiplash and a long, frustrating time dealing with the insurance company. Finally, I was granted my settlement and the way I saw it, I had two choices: Revert to my old ways, i.e. spend that money on superficial and meaningless items, or put it to good use and pursue a means of education.

Though academics hadn't come easy to me in the past, I decided to go all-in when I applied to massage school. I attended the Institute for Therapeutic Massage and it was then that I knew that I had found my calling. I immediately fell in love with anatomy and found an amazing support group who I still, to this day, consider my family. I now find myself teaching at the same school 2 years later.

I don't regret feeling depressed or anxious. I don't regret getting into the car accident. Those feelings and events guided me to the life that I find fulfilling.

I take pride in what I do, and I absolutely love what I do.

My Philosophy

YOU are your own healer.

We live in a spoiled world. Thanks to the almost instant availability, conveniences are often readily at our fingertips after one click of a button, thus making our daily lives seem more efficient and therefore, more productive. Yet the pace of life seems to be speeding up quicker than us scrolling through our news feed.
Attempting to keep up makes it so easy to become a slave to our routines and to the pressures we put on ourselves, so naturally, when it comes to self-care, we tend to fall short. We tend to forget what's really important: OURSELVES.
If you are like me, you want to do what's right for the people around you and help in any way you can. But in doing so, sometimes, you may find yourself feeling drained at the end of the day - which then leads to no time to recharge and before you know it, your daily routine starts back up. You find that you're feeling stressed and your muscles ache.
Again, we tend to forget what's really important: OURSELVES.
How can we expect to give 100% when we're not 100%
?
Traumatic experiences, usually those that remain unidentified, have the potential to weaken our mental state. These unresolved internal feelings can manifest in many ways and could cause physical harm and damage to our bodies. To avoid this, we need to make sure we practice self-care.
Go out for a walk and soak up the sun. Stretch, foam roll, or even go for a massage. Meditate.
Most importantly, learn to love yourself.
